Hi all,

I am a Pakistani citizen. I have submitted study permit application at VFS, Abu Dhabi on March 15, 2015 for summer semester 2015. Its been approximately eight weeks and I am still waiting for a response from the Canadian embassy. I have also submitted late arrival letter (got from the university) to the embassy two weeks ago. The university gave me permission to register till may 15 and time is less.

Profile: MSc Molecular Biology, got a scholarship in form of partial exemption in tuition fee plus my research supervisor will pay monthly stipend to me

I am worried :'(. Why embassy taking that long in taking a decision...Anyone else in the same situation?

Sorry to hear that... I am. Currently on a Similar situation... I have submitted my application by March 19th and still haven't got any answers... The difference with me is that I have applied for September intake so I still have time.. And also since I used to be a PR I had to send the Voluntary renounce to PR status... I think that's is why my application is taking so long..

My visa office is in Bogotá, Colombia. The time supposedly is four weeks

I would try to call CIC call centre to get more information and see why they are taking that long

CIC call centre won't provide any information regarding the applications submitted outside Canada. I have sent an email to the embassy but haven't receive any reply yet

Hello Friends,

Students from Pakistan aspiring to come into North America always face the same problem. The expected time frame given by CIC or VFS always says 8 to 10 weeks but it can go up to 16 weeks.

Please do not worry or be disheartened, CIC is a part of the Canadian government, it works exactly the same way our government offices work. Slow and steady.

I don't understand why Canadian embassies are so slow in processing study permit applications. They should process the study permits on urgently basis.

Agree. I have heard of cases where students have to defer their admission offers to the next semester due to laziness of CIC or the embassies. I guess, the Canadian embassies are the slowest in processing study permit applications as compared to US or Europeans.

Got a refusal letter from Canadian embassy, Abu Dhabi exactly after 8 weeks. reasons include current employment situation in UAE, limited employment prospects in your country of residence (UAE), you have not satisfied me that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay.

my profile: Pakistani citizen, completed MSc in Molecular Biology from Germany, got admission in Canadian university in MSc leading to PhD, got partial scholarship from university in form of tuition fee, got an internship letter that my research supervisor in Canada would pay me 20000 CAD per year through Canada research internship program (I got selected for this program). I have strong travel history as I have spent three years in Germany, visited Canada last year to meet my sisters living there.

I m frustrated  and wonder which magical powers these visa officers have to assume future plans of any applicant?

my documentation was strong enough , I am temporarily employed in a company here in UAE.

If you are currently employed in your country, since the reason for refusal was that officer thinks you won't leave the country due to limited job available for your field of study I would suggest to get a letter from your employer where your employer says that he would be looking forward for your graduation in order to work with your something like that.... That might convince the officer that you have job prospects un your country...

yes. I m thinking same. I attached a letter from employer with my application in which employer mentioned that he has started working with us 2 months ago and he is getting that much salary. in reapplying, if employer mentioned that the company would look forward for my academics and would like to hire me immediately after studies in canada. this kind of letter might have impact on VO.
