My kids are both Canadian citizens. But I'm still a permanent Resident in Canada. my application for citizenship is still in process.Planning to stay outside Canada with my kids for a while (my kids will be studying outside canada and planning to stay there until they finish high school) my kids are only 9 and 6. I believe my kids can stay outside canada as long as they want but what about me? since I'm not a canadian citizen yet? Help please!!!

As a PR you have to reside in Canada for 2 years in every 5 year period to maintain your PR status, You spend the next 6/7 years outside Canada, you lose your PR.

Your kids can also lose their PR if they stay outside Canada more then 3/5 years but if you still meet the residency requirements, you could sponsor them again or if they wait until they are of age and then apply for a PR travel document, they have a pretty good chance to get it since they were removed from Canada as minors by their parents.

You have to meet the residency requirements too of living in Canada 2/5 years.

The children are already Canadian citizens. They will not lose their status even if they stay outside Canada more than 3/5 years.
