Staying in Canada while work permit extension application under consideration

Hi,
I entered Canada as a student and my wife could get a work permit based on that. Our study and work permits will expire on 30-Mar-2017.

Now, I have applied for a Post Graduate Work Permit and have just landed a job.

My wife will be applying for a work permit extension based on the above.

My question is:

1) What would happen if my wife's work permit application is under consideration after 30-Mar-2017 and her work permit expires. Will she be able to work or will have to return to India?

2) We also received ITA recently and will submit all the required documents shortly. Does it have any impact at all in terms of implied work permit?

If your wife is currently eligible to work and submit work permit application before the current one expires then she will be on implied status, so can work. One of you who most qualifies can apply for pr and add other other as spouse or partner. You can apply for bridging work permit based on your category like provincial programs.
