Hi there,

I'm currently residing in Canada.
I used to work in the company before and they paid me on statutory holidays such as Christmas day.

Now, I work in the store and just in the waiting process of LMIA work permit from this job.

1) Should I be paid for the statutory holidays from the store job too? I know store is closed on national holidays.. so is it mandoary for the store to pay me on these holidays by labor law, or is it up to each individual company's own policy?

Please help..thank you.

It's up to the company...some pay you regular wage on holidays, others might give you a small holiday percentage on each paycheck but don't pay you specifically on the holidays..heck some might not pay you at all.

Are you a full time or part time employee?
In Canada, if you work on statutory holidays, you're suppose to get 1.5 of your hourly pay.
If you're a full time employee, you should get holiday pay (regular rate usually) even if you didn't actually work on that day.
But if you're part time or seasonal, then maybe you won't get pay for statutory holiday.

For this you really should be checking the labour law.

You should look at the labour law for the province in which you work (there is no Canada-wide labour legislation for this).
