Hi all,

Does anyone know exactly what they mean when they say statutory declarations in the guide:

"If you are a common-law or conjugal partner, provide evidence that your relationship is genuine and continuing and has existed for at least 12 months prior to your application. Also provide details of the history of your relationship and at least two statutory declarations from individuals with personal knowledge of your relationship supporting your claim that the relationship is genuine and continuing."

Does this mean the declaration has to come from a lawyer/judge or can it be anyone? Also, would it be ok if the declaration was done by a relative? Is there a specific format for such declarations?

Thanks,
S

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
They want statements that are made about you from friends and family to be in the form of a statutory declaration.
You can easily make these yourself on the computer or a lawyer can do it though that can run fairly expensive.
Then have a place for them to sign it but have them bring it to a notary to witness them signing it.

Here is a sample. I will try to explain a bit of it first.
Where it says Province, just fill in your province if the person you know is writing it in Canada, if anywhere else then just fill in that location.

The paragraphs that are numbered, you can have as many as you want. For each number they would write a statement about you and your partner.
