AOR Received.
25.02.2017
Hello fellow members,

I applied for Express Entry as an Iranian citizen, while residing in Germany. In the meantime, right after I received my ITA, my citizenship application was accepted in Germany and I became a German citizen.

Now my question is whether this information is relevant for CIC and I should inform them about this recent change and if it can affect my application.

I would be very grateful to hear you thoughts on this.

You will need to declare the new citizenship in your EE profile. Also include in LOE and provide supporting documents that you have recently gained German citizenship. This wont affect your PR application.

Thanks pk910. However, my EE profile is locked as I received an ITA a few months ago. I have already sent my documents and my application is currently under assessment, and I am not able to change it.

It is mentioned in the IRCC form that it can be used if "you wish to report important changes, such as a change in contact information, births, deaths, marriages, divorces, adoptions, changes in employment, withdrawal of application, refund request, or urgent requests." That's why I am not sure if obtaining a new citizenship counts as one of the above mentioned changes.

Did you declare your new citizenship before AOR? as you mentioned you had got the german citizenship after ITA. Am i right?

I received my German citizenship after AOR.
Ok..Change in nationality is considered a change in circumstance..So you can inform them by raising a CSE..It better to inform them so that they are aware.

Hi, I am sorry to resurrect and old topic, but I have a similar question. Does anyone know if it is necessary to inform CIC about obtaining a second citizenship? My baby daughter got another citizenship a few months after AOR. Is this considered a change in circumstance, or it is not important, as she is still a citizen of the other country as presented in the application?

Would suggest to raise a CSE anyway and explain in detail the current scenario. Good luck.
