Status change from work permit to study permit

My work permit is valid till next year but I want to apply for a study permit to study in January do I stop working while waiting for my study permit ?

No, you can keep working. If on an open work permit, you can continue to work for any employer.

You stop when work permit expires. Are you applying soon because processing is 13-14 weeks? You are showing funds of $21k (one person) plus tuition?

Make sure you show funds for the rest of the tuition. $21k plus tuition. Right on the IRCC site

There is a good chance you will not hear back about your study permit before January if you have not applied and/or don’t have PAL yet.
