Okay, I know that "State certificates may also be requested" by the Visa offices. I'm applying outland through Buffalo under my Canadian wife. I'm just wondering what are people's experiences on getting state police certificate requests by the Buffalo office while applying under family class sponsorship. If most people get requested, then I'm thinking of just submitting them with the application. What are your experiences and suggestions?

Thanks in advance...

Everybody has to submit the clearance certs

State certificates are different that the FBI certificates you submit with your application. You shouldn't send them into the embassy unless they request them from you. Not everyone gets a request for them either.. Here's hoping you don't get a request ;)

I submitted my state and FBI when I submitted my application. They may not request them, but if they do you'll have a delay in your file processing while you get the clearances and then send them in. Why take the risk on an extra wait? :)

Most people do NOT get requests for state certificates. Probably less than 20%. However, if they are easy to get (they are normally quicker than the FBI) then it is not a bad idea to submit them along with the FBI check.

If anyone was previously charged with a crime, then DEFINITELY submit them upfront as the visa post WILL ask for them later. Doesn't matter if the charge was dropped or not.

Thanks for the reply. I'm just curious...may I ask how you figure to be around that percent?

From experience. ;)

Please note that I said "probably". The only way to know for sure would be an Access to Information request and it is truly such an unimportant stat that I wouldn't waste my time in making a request.
