Hi all,

I have been working for a company in BC for a little over a year on a post-graduation work permit. I have applied for PR under CEC and am waiting for the application to be processed. I would like to start a side online retail business while continuing to work with my current employer.
Are there any restrictions with my permit? Appreciate any input

Thanks!
Gary

Hi

Unfortunately you are not permitted to own 100% of any business registered in Canada. Only citizens and PRs are permitted to do so.

You are permitted to invest in a Canadian Business, however this will be treated as foreign investment, and you are essentially required to have a Canadian partner (citizen or PR)

The only other alternative is to wait until you have PR status.

Good luck

Can one apply under PNP class with an open work permit without a job offer or Canadian experience? If so how?

Hi

PNP is completely employer driven, so your employer would have to apply to the province to get you approved for PNP.

You cannot apply for PNP without it.

PNP does not require Canadian Experience (only experience in the NOC category of your application, does not matter from where)

Good luck :)
