Hi all,
I am a Master second year (engineering) student in 'building energy' in France. I'd like to carry out my stage (internship) in Québec. Are there any bureau d'études ( firms) in Québec that specialize in energy efficiency building and how difficult or complex is the process/how long does is it take to obtain a visa? Has anyone tried this?

If you want the brutally honest answer, I wouldn't bother pursuing this. In order to accept an internship, you need a work permit. To get a work permit you need a job offer and approved LMIA. To get an approved LMIA, your employer needs to advertise the job for at least a month to prove no Canadian could be found for the role, pay a $1000 fee and then wait several months for the LMIA to be processed with no guarantee of approval. Because the process is so long, expensive and involved, it's typically very difficult to secure an internship in Canada - employers aren't willing to go through the process.
