Hi,
I had applied student visa under SPP for January 2012 intake however it’s been rejected as yesterday only I received an email from my consultant stating the same.
I am a BA graduate (40%), sales and marketing professional with aprox 15 yrs of work experience. I am 37 years old. I have been accepted by st. Clair college Windsor campus for International Trade Management program. It’s a graduate certificate program. My IELTS score is 7.
Why I want to study now – I am finding myself stagnent in my career and need to have some specialized course to give it a push, and I chose international trade as I will have a chance to understand the International Marketing and trade as my experience is in media sales. I wish to know is it worth, re-apply for visa under general category if it’s been refused under SPP for the same season.

Sorry to hear that Bharat. Your passing percentage is low but your experience should cover that up I suppose. Did you include SOP with the application explaining your intentions as described by you here?

Yes I included the SOp as well. The reason they cited is very generic - as they find mismatch my education mismatch and experiene mismatch with the course, the future plan and how this is going to help me in my career. They also said something about course available in India... I just wish if somebody can guide me on this as I wish to reapply in general catagory giving all the answers to their questions... Also the chances of hitting the jackpot...

I don't mean to discourage you but I would say your chances of getting VISA would have been greater if you would have applied under university category or under SPP in some University. If you can wait for one more semester, try applying to University now itself get the Letter of Acceptance and then apply under University Category. But even admission in University isn't easy, only a good consultant or a very experienced person in this field can provide the best possible advice to you in this matter.

I am from Gujarat actually and won't be able to help in that regard. But one of our frnd went through megamind but he was a regular student with no gap. Consultants usually are least bothered about students VISA and are more involved with admissions. I would advice you to do a lot of homework if possible before applying again.

Hi,

With 15 years of work experience + graduation and 37 years of age, you intend to study a graduate certificate course (of around 1 year) and aspiring visa for the same. Are you sure if it’s feasible? May be it’s possible but it still require lots of homework on your part.

I would advise you to go for MBA. Your profile meets the basic requirement of MBA program. I am sure your 15 years of work experience will help you in GMAT exam waiver (At least University of New Brunswick gives such waiver). MBA is almost a highest qualification and Canadian business schools gives lots of weightage to the real world work experience. Your biggest asset is your 15 years of work experience and you need to use it in a constructive way.

Bharat,
my suggestion is:

Focus on reason of rejection only.

make it prove.

from all conversations i found that you should apply for RELEVANT course.

@ Comrade for a regular student who does not have or has a little gap its okay to just focus on the refusal but in his case his experience is of a great importance which can make or break it for him.

@ Bharat as stated earlier stick to University only.
