Spouse's Visa Processing

Hi,

My work permit expires on 20th May 2013 & am applying for a renewal. My wife came here on a visitor visa and she will be going back to India around the second week of May. Her visa expires on 17th May 2013.

>> Can I apply for extension of her visitor status/apply for open work permit along with my work permit ? In that case, can she travel to India as per the plan (2nd week of May) and return to Canada in June ?

>> Incase she is to come back to Canada as a dependent visitor, should my work permit be processed (the processing time for WP extension is 90 days !!!) or would the fee receipt for extension application and my employer letter are sufficient ?

since your wife's TRV expires in May , For her to re enter Canada in June , She need a new TRV.
It is irrespective of your work permit status.

If your wife travel can be delayed for 3 months , Then first both of you can apply for permits extension together (Your WP and Wife's Visitor record extension) and apply for TRV at CPP Ottawa , CPP Ottawa will issue a TRV up to your new permit expiry date.

If your wife travel cannot be postponed , then she can go to India in May and Stay in India until your new WP is issued Then re apply TRV with new WP.
- Problem with second option is , Wife can't apply for TRV until your new WP is available.
