Spouses not mentioned: Apply separately?

I have just received my student visa today.

My husband is nowhere mentioned, even though I listed him on the application. I am a US Citizen and he is a Serbian citizen but US Permanent Resident who lives in the US with me. Serbians need a visitor visa even to cross the border, but I read somewhere that US Permanent Residents don't.

Do we have to apply separately for a work permit for him? Do I do it for him because I got the student visa or does he do it? Does he have to take medical exams for it coming from the US? If we don't apply for a work permit, will they just wave us on at the border once we show our marriage license and identifications? Is a work permit all he will get or will they give him some sort of temporary residency?

Thank you

Did you filled IMM1295 for your husband when applying?

If so, your husband should get the Work Permit which will expire when your student visa expires.

If not your husband will have to apply for a visitor visa and should not be able to work.

But, I don't know about US PR visa...
Probably Canada should accept this and he will be able to work as well (NAFTA).
