hi,

Can some one guide me if husband has MBA from private college(2 yrs) with total of 17years full time education. As per guideline in cic website it says the same requirement for adaptability education points(5), but my agent says that spouse master should be from university or govt college, does anyone know about this?

your help is appreciated.

Thanks

Yep...
Hi
It MIGHT not work. But no one can be sure about it. Every case is different and A LOT depends on the Visa Officer. I am not sure (or have read anywhere), about, having degrees from accredited Institutes. Though if they implement the Credential Verification, then, I am not sure.

BUT like I always say.... Applying and getting refused is way better than never trying. SO if you are not making 67 Points without spouse's points, than there is no way but to apply and find out.... Pretty much nothing to loose, except fee.

Include his Transcripts, Degrees/Diploma etc, when trying to claim points.

This is what the CIC website describes about adaptability points:

A. Accompanying Spouse or common-law partner’s level of education

Secondary school (high school) diploma or less: 0 points
A one-year diploma, trade certificate, apprenticeship, or university degree and at least 12 years of full-time or full-time equivalent studies: 3 points
A diploma, trade certificate, apprenticeship, or university degree of two years or more and at least 14 years of full-time or full-time equivalent studies: 4 points
A Master’s degree or PhD and at least 17 years of full-time or full-time equivalent studies: 5 points

It doesn't mention about accredation or should be from a government institution. But it has to be full-time not part time.

I think it might be private college but its always affiliated with the university ...as per my knowledge....because without being affiliated to university private colleges will not issue MBA certificate...
Warm regards....

Dear Ajeez,

Please read the following instructions, you might get answer of your query

Education

“Educational credential” is defined in R73 as any diploma, degree or trade or apprenticeship credential issued on the completion of a program of study or training at an educational or training institution recognized by the authorities responsible for registering, accrediting, supervising and regulating such institutions in the country of issue.

Subsection 78(3) of the IRPR provides that points are to be awarded on the basis of the single educational credential that results in the highest number of points. For example, an applicant with a master’s degree that was completed after 16 years of education, and who spends an additional year in school after obtaining it would be awarded 22 points. That the applicant spent an additional year in school does not turn a 16 year master’s degree into a 17 year master’s degree and would not result in
being awarded 25 points.

Adaptability criteria

Educational credentials of the accompanying spouse or common-law partner:
Evaluate credentials as if the spouse or common-law partner were the principal applicant then award points as follows:
• Where the award under R78 would be 25 points - five points
• Where the award under R78 would be 20 or 22 points - four points
• Where the award under R78 would be 12 or 15 points - three points
