Hi,

I received ITA in the last draw on July 8th 2020.
When I filled out my EE application, I remember not filling up my spouse's non-canadian work experience. However, in the post ITA application form, I see my spouse's work experience proof is "required" to be provided. We have also not claimed any points for my spouse's work experience when I reviewed my EE application form.

Could you please advise if we can skip providing the proof of spouse's experience and instead provide a Letter of Explanation stating that as we have not claimed any points of spouse's work ex therefore the proofs have not been provided? I am unable to delete the Work experience of my spouse and cannot progress the application unless I have uploaded the work ex proofs.

Thanks,
Zoya

Hello there,
When it comes to dependent forgein work experience which award no points, the proof required is not as strict as principal applicant one.

If you can t get the reference letter any proof will suffice, joining letter , salary slips, work contract ect.

Not many people know why it's mandatory to provide proof of forgein work experience for dependent, in facts when you state it , IRCC ask for a proof to assess the impact the dependent will have on the job market, IRCC work with the relevant Canadian job board who will assess with the documentation the impact both of you will have on the job market of the chosen province, they will then assign an attractivity score, which will be used then on your application assessment, in part this why they require a work experience proof even though they award no points for it.

Finally bear in mind that any valid proof will suffice for your dependent.( For forgein work experience that award no points).

Best of luck.
