Spouse Visa - TRV

Hi Everyone,
Could anyone share any info as to how to apply dependent visa for spouse?
I am going to canada on a study permit and would like my spouse to accompany me. I have already applied to study visa and want to initiate TRV (just visit visa without work permit). Few of the questions I have are

1) Visitor Visa (TRV) - Will this visa give my spouse to stay in canada till the end of my course which is for 16 months?
2) Since we are planning to go together in september and processing time for Open work permit is 12 weeks, I am opting for a visitor visa which is just 24 days. Will this be a problem? I have no issues in showing the financial part.

Please do provide your suggestions and if anyone is in the same boat do let me know your thoughts. Also, if you are aware of any consultancies which process the same in India, I request you to provide your inputs.

Hello, I have similar question. I am going to Ontario to study full-time masters degree. I applied for a study permit for myself only and it is approved. My question is about bringing my family while studying in Canada.
My husband and 2 children (2 and 4 year-old) already have visitors visa taken prior to my study permit. I wonder if we should go to Canada together as a family (I am in Turkey now), or seperately. And, should we declare in the border that we want to live together or should they come with me as a visitor and extent it later in Canada.

Exactly, I was also thinking of the same thing, apply for visitor visa and once we land there in canada only then can apply for open work permit.
But if i apply open work permit from my home country the processing time is about 12 weeks whereas for visitor visa its 24 days.

I wish someone will get back to us on this one!
