He may not get approved for a TRV especially if she is pregnant. SOWP is really the proper permit.
SOWP usually takes 6 months. Did you arrive in Canada while already pregnant before your studies started? How long have you been married? What province are you currently living in? In some provinces your husband will not qualify for healthcare unless he is working full-time for over 6 months so if he is having health issues that could be very expensive.
