Spouse Visa Options

I am from India and my fiance is also an Indian in canada having studied in Canada and having a valid work permit for 3 years. We would be getting married in Oct or Jan. I wanted to know which of these options has more chances of getting the Temporary Resident Visa.

1. We get married in Canada while I am on a visitor visa and then return back to India and apply for TRV and open work permit.
2. We get married in India. I apply for visitor visa and once in Canada I apply for TRV and open work permit while in canada.

I also want to know will my TRV be valid till my husband's work permit is valid or I need to keep extending it every 6 months?

Your question is confusing. You ask about chance of getting a TRV, yet the first scenario states that you already have a visitor visa. You *do* know that there is no such thing as a 'visitor visa', right? When you apply for a visa to visit Canada, you are in fact applying for a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), which if approved, allows you to stay up to 6 months in Canada.

So should i apply for the work permit from India or from Canada itself.

And the other question was if I should get married in canada or in india. Which one would help expedite TRV .
I am a software engineer so looking to start work in Canada ASAP after marriage.

Location of the marriage won't make a difference when it comes to expediting your TRV application - you don't need to be married in order to apply for a TRV. At the same time, showing that you are visiting your married partner in Canada could raise a red flag for the visa officer and put you at a risk of not returning to your country, in the case that you don't have strong ties to your home country. Whenever you apply for a TRV, you will have to convince the visa office that you have strong ties to your home country and will not overstay in Canada. If and when you are approved for a TRV, you can visit Canada.

To be eligible to apply for an Open Work Permit, your spouse - who is on a work permit currently - has to be:
- a skilled worker in an occupation under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill type 0, A or B
