Hi there,
My wife and six month old daughter is currently in Canada with a Temporary Resident Visa. She did not receive any documents stapled in her and daughter's passport. And there is no any date written below the stamp posted by border officers. So as far as my knowledge goes her visa expires six months after she landed here. I want her and my daughter to stay longer. Now I want to apply for a) work permit for my spouse b) extend her stay here. Can she apply for work permit while she is here for six months. What should I do to apply for her work permit? Do I need to show that she has an employer here. Or will they just give her work permit.
Other questions also: I am a phd student currently and my study permit and work permit expires after around six months too. It was mainly due to the reason that my passport was also going to expire after six months. I have applied for a new passport which is going to arrive soon. So my ways to extend my wife's passport would be to first extend my work permit/study permit and then apply for an extension for her temporary visa. Is that correct? Can she apply for extension without having extended my work permit/study permit? And how much money should I show for her to extend her stay here. I will be staying for two more years now and so I need her and daughter here also for two years too........
Thanks
KJD
