Hi,

Is it ok to apply TRV for spouse based on Open Work permit.
I am holding a ICT work permit which is due to expire Nov -2015. I am going try my luck applying for a OWP, so that I can look for different job.

Just wondering if my OWP goes thru, I will have to apply TRV for my wife based on my OWP.
Is it a good idea to do so?

On what basis are you applying for an OWP? You can't just "try your luck" - you have to qualify for one to be approved. Otherwise you're just wasting money. Do you meet one of the requirements to obtain an OWP?

I have my PR application reached last stage(received passport request ),but I have notified CIC about my marriage and received confirmation to produce the necessary document after marriage.
But I am not with in 4 months expiry of my ICT work permit, to qualify for a OWP.

There is no such thing as a TRV based on WP. It might help you to establish a purpose but that's it.

Now... if you are already in the last stages of PR and your WP expires in a year it doesn't make sense to apply for a new WP. It will most likely be refused as you have a valid WP good for about a year. If you get a new WP, you may never use it as when you get your PR all permits are void.

If you want you can apply using your current WP as a "purpose" document and to show relationship. Be careful, as many TRVs are refused with this relation (WP-spouse) as you would have to prove she is not coming to live with you.

Hello everyone! Myself madhu.. My hubby is in Canada on his student visa.. He went there in 2013 and i applied for an open work permit on July 8 2014 but it got refused on this reasons:
1)travel history
2)family ties in Canada and in home country.
3)financial status and personal assets
4)employment status.
Therefore again I applied for an visitor visa on november 3rd with all the documents rrequired and made corrections for above said refusal reasons even then my applicatn got refused... Reasons were:
1)travel history
2)financial status and personal assets
3)purpose of visit
4) length of stay
I clearly mentioned I would like to visit my husband to celebrate Christmas n new year together and duration was one month.

Even after facing two refusals I didn't loose my hopes n confidence .. Again I applied for a visitor visa on 25 November with a clear covering letter explaining him the reasons for which he refused.. And now It is being processed in Bangalore India.
I hope everything will be positive this time!
