Hello everyone,

I've been looking through the forums and would like to start a topic and maybe help others too.

I've been a resident of BC since 2008, recently renewed my PR.

Currently in school in a full-time post-secondary program so it's been difficult to get paperwork done.

Timeline
2012 december - married my boyfriend of 9 years
2013 march - returned to BC to renew my PR card
2014 June - set to graduate
2014 August - plan to visit the Philippines
2014 August - October - plan to fly back with my husband, hopefully with his TRV in tow.

He currently has a family business so his only employment history is with his family. They're fine, comfortable and able to travel. Him on the other hand has only flown to HK in the past 20 years due to his fear of flying. That's why I hope to fly with him.

What are the odds that he will be granted a TRV?
I really don't want to be away from him anymore. I'm so close to giving up my life here just so we can be together, but I know he will do so well here, that is why I want to show him BC. I want to tour him around the country as well and show him what our life could be like if he decides to leave his family business and join me here.

If we indicate strong ties and paperwork of his own business being set up in the philippines, along with return tickets for the BOTH of us, with an itinerary for 6-months touring the country.. and living with my parents and extended family here.. a joint account in the philippines.. would that work?

Any guidance is appreciated. Thank you!

Sponsor him. As a spouse without children you do not have any income to show.
We've decided to go this route. :'( We also decided that I take a year long vacation first with him just so we can 'be apart' again instead of 3 years straight without seeing each other. At least by then, we'll be ready and have the 'courage' for the distance again.

Thank you!

Hold on!

It is difficult, but possible, for a spouse of a Canadian PR/citizen to get a TRV. They key is to show the visa officers that he will leave before his visa expires. Therefore, if you write a letter explaining your plan (along the lines of your original post) and include details of the visit you have planned (elaborating on the 'touring the country') you have a good shot of being able to get him a TRV. The key is to convince a stranger that he is indeed planning to visit, has funds to support himself (ie, so he won't be seeking work), and that there are reasons for him to head back home at the conclusion of his visit (i.e., he won't work). You touched on all these elements in your first post so just elaborate on them and send any proof/corroborating evidence you have (even consider things like e-mails, chats where you guys discuss the plan over time).

Good luck!

You make my heart swell with hope. We will push for the TRV route first. I will consider everything you said, especially how I won't need to support his visit since he should have enough for our trip. I also look at our past conversations and include them. Thank you thank you thank you!
