Hello everyone,
I am currently living with my boyfriend (who has a valid study permit) and will be my common law partner this May (we are in Canada). I have applied for my permanent residency and im working using my post graduate work visa which expires in 2017.

i was wondering if there was a way for my partner to apply for a (spouse) work permit in may (when we are common law) or does he have to send his PR papers (having me as the principle applicant) before he applies for a work permit. he completed his studies a few years back but wasn't able to apply for a post graduate work visa because of the college he went to (im guessing there are some schools that are not supported by cic)

i understand this is a little bit complicated but im looking for a way for him to be able to work and change his study permit to something else

id really appreciate your help.

He can apply for an OWP once you are common law and provided you have a full time job that is NOC A, B or 0.

Thank you for your reply.
I have another question... When he applies for a work permit should he wait till he gets it before he sends his pr application (using me and the principle applicant) or can he apply for his work permit and pr at the same time?
