Cairo, Egypt
Hi Folks,

My husband lives in Montreal, Quebec and I live in Egypt. We applied for spouse sponsorship since 28th of November and we haven't received a response from IRCC till now, is it normal not to even receive a AOR till now?
Is there an email address that we can send an inquiry to?

Also, what is the next step since we are applying from Montreal, Quebec and I heard it requires a special application?

Thanks :)

Perfectly normal. You will probably be waiting at least another month, maybe more for the AOR.

Hey everyone,
I applied for spouse sponsorship for my wife.
We got married 5 months ago and we completed documents and sent them to case processing center in Sydney on 05 Dec 2018, but so far I couldn't link my application to my CIC account. I tried a couple of different combination of information.
My questions are:
1) application name is my wife's information, right?
2) the number of applicants .included in the application should be (me + my wife) 2?
3) Should I worry about not founding it in the system or it's still waiting for being processed? considering we also had Christmas and new year holidays and I'm sure they are short-handed during those times, but I'm just afraid if they ask for something and I miss it.

Thanks a lot.
by the way, I live in Toronto.

I had the same issue with linking my application to my account, i called the call center and they informed me that IRCC are still looking into applications till 3rd of Oct only!
They also informed us that in order to link the application to an online account IRCC should review the application first in order to find it on thier system.

Hey Sarah,
tnx for your response. I tried to call them too, but they keep asking for document number, which I dont know where should I get. I only got my own UCI number from my landing paper.

You won't get a document number unless they started to review the application which didn't happen yet cuz they are now reviewing applications till 3rd of Oct. We were told by the call center that our application is in the next batch

I was told the whole process takes around 6 months is that true?
No.

CIC themselves say 80% are processed within 12 months. Processing time varies by the visa office that processes the application. I maintain a spreadsheet for the London Visa Office (I don't think yours will go there), but by way of example, click on the spreadsheet link in my signature line for some real world timelines.

For Canadian / Brits combinations, a VERY FEW have been processed in 3 or 4 months. Most take at least 9 - 11 months and some longer.

I suggest you can count of one year plus.

Another question
Can I issue a visitor visa until my sponsorship is approved? If anyone had a similar experience can you please provide me with details
I want the answer to this too. Btw did you get approved yet?
I started sponsoring my Egyptian husband in January 2019 and am still waiting, 15 months later.
