Spouse Sponsorship upfront medical

Hi everyone,

My wife and I are applying for spousal sponsorship (inland) in Canada. Before she came to Canada, we did an upfront medical exam to speed up the process. She was issued a UMI number, but the clinic marked her as a “worker” instead of “spouse” or “family class.”

She is not working yet—only after receiving an open work permit as part of the sponsorship process. When we went for the medical exam, we told the clinic it was for spousal sponsorship, but they still put “worker” on the document.

My questions are:

1. Should we upload this medical exam result when submitting the inland sponsorship application?

2. Should we include a letter of explanation clarifying that she’s not a worker and that we did the medical upfront for sponsorship?

3. Will this mistake on the category cause any issues with our application?

Has anyone else experienced this? Would love to hear your advice!

Thanks!

Not really any reason to think this will speed up process but what is done is done.

1. Yes.
2. Probably not necessary but won't hurt. (My guess is they write worker because there's no such thing as upfront spousal, so they just filled in other category).
3. Probably not.

Same with the above message.

1. Yes
2. Up to you. I did for my case (did medical for visitor record and was also used in PR)
3. I don't think so
