Hello everyone!

So the situation is that my husband and I have received a certified copy of marriage license and a marriage certificate itself (the one you need to submit to the immigration office). We've managed to get it with expedited service, as my work visa is expiring in about 2 months and we were super happy to have it so soon. However, the next day I've noticed that my parents' last names were switched. My dad received my mom's maiden name and my mom received dad's. I called Service Ontario and they tell me that there is no expedited service and I won't be able to get it corrected sooner than in 8 weeks.

As long as I know that it is a marriage certificate that needs to be submitted and not the license and my parent's names are not indicated there. I was wondering if I should still photocopy our current marriage certificate, send it for corrections and attach an explanation letter to the immigration officer, or risk to be deported and wait for a new one. I am panicking at the moment and totally lost.

If anyone had anything simular please share your story!

I appreciate everyone's help.

If you are really pressed for time, send it with a letter of explanation.

There is a chance they will send it back, but given your wait for the Marriage Cert is 8 weeks anyway, you'll likely have received AOR or have received it back rejected/returned.

We had a similar situation with a mistake on one of my documents but needed to get it sent for implied status on my existing work permit.
We included a cover letter explaining we were working on getting a replacement that was correct and they accepted the application. Eventually (like 8 months into the processing) they called and asked us to send a copy of the new corrected document via email (which we did as we had it by that time).

Honestly I don't think they will return it for that, it's a minor mistake and it's still a legit marriage certificate. But you never know.
