SPOUSE SPONSORSHIP - HUSBAND

I just want to know if there is a minimum financial requirement in spousal sponsorship. I came here last October 2014 and got my PR card same month. I married my husband last May 2015. Am I qualified to sponsor him at once or do I have to wait for many months before I can send an application to CIC? I am currently working 3 jobs (part time) right now so my main concern is the possibility that I cannot meet the financial requirement, if there's any. I have proof showing that our relationship is genuine since we are almost 8years being in a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship. Hope you can help me or give some advise, thanks a lot.

There is no minimum financial requirement. You must show CIC that you can support yourselves without welfare.

Prior to you becoming a PR, did you ever live together?

You send proof of your employment and income with the application. You can send in last year's tax info from your home country as well. CIC also wants an Option C from your Canadian income tax.

Proof of your job and income is usually enough for CIC to believe you will be able to support yourselves when your spouse gets PR. You can also show your spouse's savings and investments, if any. You can also include a letter about your plans for when your spouse gets PR - explaining what job he hopes to get, where you will live, etc.

In any case, the sponsor does not actually need a job or income to sponsor a spouse or partner. It is very rare for CIC to refuse a spousal sponsorship because they don't believe the couple will be able to support themselves. Even students with no income have successfully sponsored spouses.

I didn't ask if you are living together now. Before you became a PR, in your 8 year relationship, did you ever live together?

before I came here, we are already in our bf-gf relationship for almost 8 years until my application was approved last year. So, I decided to come back and marry him. Do I have to change my passport first before my application? I already change my PR card and some other important documents here but not the passport yet. thanks

No, you do not need to change your passport.

Hi, I am retrieving our conversation in Skype and I found out that most of it is in our own dialect (not English) do I have to translate it to English and have it notarized? Also, I read some of the topics here about gathering letters from friends and family member to testify the genuinity of our relationship, how many letter do I have to ask from and it should be hand written or computerize?

Married couples do not need any letters from family and friends. This is just extra evidence; there is no harm in including some, but it is not necessary. Either hand-written or done on a computer is fine. Some people have even printed out emails. The letters should include the contact details of the person writing them, to make them seem authentic.

If something is not in English or French, it should be translated. This is one reason sending in only a few chat logs or emails is best. If you have a lot of other evidence, the chat logs are less important. For Skype and email, a list of the contacts showing how often you communicated can be enough. For example, you can show your inbox showing all the communication from your husband. Then get a few of them translated.
