Spouse Sponsorship Fee Questions

I am from the United States, and my wife is a Canadian-born Citizen. I am already here living in Canada with her under a Visitor Visa. We are going to do our applications online, but are confused about which ones we have to pay for. According to the Fee List on the Government of Canada website, I believe we only need to pay for Principal Applicant (for me), Sponsorship Application (for my wife who is my sponsor), and Right of Permanent Residence. Am I correct? The Fee List gives another thing to be paid for : "Spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner of the principal applicant, or where a transitional provision applies, a family member of the principal applicant who is 22 years of age or older" and if I understand it correctly, that would be if I was bringing a Spouse to Canada, right?

Your total will be 1040$, if it's only you. You pay the sponsorship fee, the principal applicant, and the right of permanent residence. The spouse fee only applies for other categories, where the husband and wife are being sponsored by someone else (for example, the parents are being sponsored by their son).

Also, you cannot apply online. All the documents have to be submitted to Mississauga first, and then they'll be forwarded to your visa office, which is Ottawa. That's if you apply "outland", and as an American, there is absolutely no reason to apply inland.

Thank you for answering my question. I thought I was able to submit my paperwork online, but in either case, I wanted to pay online. Unfortunately, my wife's card does not work for that, so we are waiting for the receipt to be mailed to us.
