Hello Everyone!

Let me brief You all on my case first.
-Got Canada PR in Sept 2009
-Got married in Dec 2009
-Currently working overseas
-Willing to add wife's name to my Canada PR
-Preference is to relocate Canada ASAP
-Have already got my Bank a/c and physical address for Canada

I need your help & guidence in the following two questions:
Q1: Since I do not have an employment in Canada , I guess I will have to submit the application under 'Unemployed' category. Could someone tell if I take an admission in some college at Canada will that be helpful in my application paperwork oneway or another? Actually, I don't want to spend money on my admission without being sure if that will be an additional benefit during the filing.

Q2: How long I would have to stay put in Canada for being able to submit the wife application. 3-6 months is what I have heard, is that correct??

Any replies will be much appreciated!!

Thanks in advance

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
1. It doesn't matter one way or the other. As long as you are not on welfare or in bankruptcy you are ok to sponsor. There is no specific unemployed category, btw.
2. As a PR you must be in Canada to sponsor, but I haven't heard of any specific period of time having to pass after you return.

I think the only rule is that the sponsor has to live in Canada when the applicant lands.

From the inference on p8 of IMM3900 the sponsor guide, it looks as though only Canadian citizens can sponsor whilst outside Canada.

Not quite right for PRs sponsoring, they must reside in Canada on the day the sponsorship is submitted and during the sponsorship. See: Immigration Regulations 130

Sponsors

Sponsor
130. (1) Subject to subsection (2), a sponsor, for the purpose of sponsoring a foreign national who makes an application for a permanent resident visa as a member of the family class or an application to remain in Canada as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class under subsection 13(1) of the Act, must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who
(a) is at least 18 years of age;
(b) resides in Canada; and
(c) has filed a sponsorship application in respect of a member of the family class or the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class in accordance with section

Requirements for sponsor
133. (1) A sponsorship application shall only be approved by an officer if, on the day on which the application was filed and from that day until the day a decision is made with respect to the application, there is evidence that the sponsor
(a) is a sponsor as described in section 130;
