Hi,

I've read that the wife can lower your points in your epress entry profile, is that true, did I read that right ? because I have been told it works the other way around !!

I am married (I am the main applicant) and my wife has the following:
1. She has the same educational credentials as me (master)
2. She won't do IELTS test

Does that increase or decrease points in my profile ?

Thanks !

Here is the breakdown of the 600 points for applicants with a spouse:
Primary Applicant = 560
Spouse = 40
-- Level of education 10
-- Official language proficiency 20
-- Canadian Work Experience 10

Spouse points are not mandatory to be eligible to enter the EE pool, and therefore, it's each applicant's choice to determine whether or not they want to forego the applicable points. The maximum that could be attained by such an applicant would therefore be 560 points.
