Hello,

I'm a PGWP holder working full time in IT in Canada. I'm planning to get married in January (India).
And there is no support from my fiance's family. They are against it and we are going to proceed with the marriage without them.
Background on my spouse : MSc Psychology in India. Working in health sector.

So after marriage, I have the following queries regarding applying OWP for my spouse :

1) She doesn't have any property in her name. And without her parents support , how do I prove she has strong ties to home country ?
2) She is currently employed. Could you advise how to use the employment factor ? She is planning to resign before marriage. Or staying employed till applying owp would have any advantage ?
3) To show bank balance , I would be transferring money to her. Is that okay ?
4) Considering she is my spouse , How to prove to an officer that you will leave Canada when your work permit expires ?

Thank you in Advance!

Have you been dating foe a long time and will be able to prove that you have been a longterm relationship before marriage like in person pictures at various events over a period of time? Applying right after marriage can be a warning sign for CIC and people in arranged marriagea often get denied if they apply right after marriage. She should really keep her job because it could be a long time before she is approved for SOWP. Processing times are many months. If you want her to come to Canada as soon as possible she should attempt to secure a TRV before she gets married.

Thank you for the reply. Yes we have been dating for 3 years now. And we have enough proof to show that.
So the home ties criteria won't affect the application ? As we won't have anything to show for her apart from money.
As per your suggestion If she has a TRV before marriage , then how I do proceed with the next steps ?
Could I take her to Canada on TRV and then apply for a SOWP within Canada ?
Appreciate your help!

Her job would be her strong tie. Hopefully she has some savings and has done some international travel to places similar to Canada. If there are still travel restrictions she will not be able to enter Canada until after marriage if she can get special permission. If she is able to get a TRV, which is far from guaranteed, she could enter Canada as a visitor and apply for an SOWP.
