So i keep hearing stories of how some outland applications were processed within 5-6 months time frame.

Is it possible? Does it depend on the backlog or the case officer?

Depends on the visa office and how straight-forward the application is.

Depends on the visa office and how straight-forward the application is.

The shortest I have ever seen was 47 days, the longest was over 3.5 year! The quoted time is 80% in 12 months - your call!
