Spouse open work permit - Query

I have to apply for Spouse open work permit.
My husband has got his work permit extended and he is yet to apply for his TRV extension.His TRV is getting expired by this month end. Do I need to wait till he gets his TRV extended or is the work permit extension alone sufficient for me to apply?

How long he is in Canada and you can apply on the behalf of work permit document.

That is sufficient .
