Hi everyone, so my situation is like this;

I am currently on a post graduate work permit that is expiring in August 2021. I have been working as a software engineer for the past two years and have already applied for my permanent residency via the Quebec skilled worker stream. It’s been only 3 months I sent my documents so I assume it’s a long journey ahead.

Now the problem is that I am getting married this December while my PR is in process and not sure how I would be bringing my wife over to Canada to stay with me. A few options that I was considering were;

Withdraw my current application and apply via express entry keeping my wife in the application which should be quick. But because I already have a CSQ I feel my case would be weak for express entry.

Another option that I considered was applying for a spouse open work permit as a non accompanying member . The only problem here is that my work permit expires in august next year and I am not sure if there would be enough time if we apply in January. Considering my PR is almost 2 years from getting approved, and another year to apply for her sponsorship, I am really in a terrible situation. Also, if I am applying for an extension of closed work permit in the next few months, can I still apply for an open work permit for my wife with it? Or can you only apply for sowp if you have an open one.

Basically my question is what would be the best way to go ahead with this? I just want my spouse to be here with me and don’t really care if she comes on a work, visitor or study status. If there’s any other way I would love to hear about it. Need help please!

I am exactly in same situation.
I got my Csq in March 2019, I applied for pr in June 2019.
In November 2019 I got married.
So I applied for CSQ , added my spouse to my permanent residence application and applied for her spouse open work permit in March 2020.

In August 2020 my wife got her CSQ. Than shit hit the fan and wife's work permit got rejected.
Still now, no reply from ircc that they added my wife to my application. Only confirmation of receiving the documents.

Now I am waiting for my wife's work permit which I applied 2nd time.
As she have CSQ i am more relieved that we will get our PR atleast in next 10 months.
But for bringing her here in canada. Its getting on my nerve.
Thats my story :)
