Hi All,

Greetings for the holiday season! :D Hope everyone is doing well.

My spouse is working in Canada on a Temporary Work Permit NOC-A (2173) which is valid till 30th September 2016. I want to apply for an Open Work Permit so that i can go and live with him and work simultaneously once in Canada. I have collected following documents for my SOWP application -

My documents -
1.Passport
2.Digital Photo
3.Work Permit Application Outside of Canada (IMM1295E)
4.Proof of relationship: Marriage Certificate + Pictures etc.
5.Upfront medical exam e-medical certificate.

Proof of support in Canada (Spouse's documents)
1.His Employment letter and recent payslips
2.Income Tax Return: Notice of Assessment
3.Bank statement: previous 3 months and current savings
4.Accommodation support: lease/rental agreement and utility bills

My Supporting Document
1.Current employment letter and 3 recent payslips.
2.Bachelor degree and other educational documents.
3.Bank statements for last 3 months and savings.

Apart from the above mentioned documents do I also need following documents ?
1.Police clearance certificate?
2.Return air tickets to and from Canada for around September 2016?
3.Do I need to show ties to my home country in any way? In all honesty I won't be able to get such a long leave from my work place and that's why I plan to resign before leaving for Canada from my current Job.

I would also like to mention that an immigration lawyer mentioned to me that the Spouse open work permit will not work as I am currently not in Canada. Is that right? As I see many fellow forum members who have applied an outland SOWP application and got one. I am a bit confused! :-\

Can any kind soul answer my queries at their convenience?

Thanks a ton!

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi,

I sponsered my spouse from Asia last year and her application has been approved, the whole processed takes about 12 weeks.
Please see the following documents regarding to SOWP,
T4
NOA
Bank statement(6 months)
LMIA
Job offer
Pay stubs(6 months)
Employment letter
My personal letter
Rental agreement
Work permit
Passport
Imm1295E
Imm5488E
Imm5645E
Marriage certificate
Spouse's bank statement(6months)
Spouse's employment letter
Spouse's photos
Spouse's transcript

After we sent those documents to high commission, it takes about 8 weeks to received medical requests and then only 1 more month the application has been approved.

Hope this can help.

All the best

Hey, i am also planning to apply for the SOWP, and i pretty much have all the supporting documents available with me.
My only concern is that the documents and application forms you are attaching as support to your application, did CIC actually asked for that when you filled online questions for eligibility. Because when i am checking my eligibility from the CIC website, the only documents they are asking from me are the following:
Imm1295E
Proof of relationship
Medical
photo

So can you please let me know if they have asked you guys to provide bank statements , job status of the spouse in Canada and his pay stubs or you are providing them just to be on safe side?
Thanks

We applied SOWP by paper, all documents we provide just to be safe side as you asked. However, if you planning to apply by online. In my opinion, just follow instructions and upload all mandatory documents. Moreover, you should write the letter of explanations along with sponsor 's work permit, LMIA and employer letter.

Wish you good luck
