Hi everyone,

If anyone here applied for work permit for himself and open work permit for spouse on the same time together, did the spouse get the visa on the passport as worker W-1 or visitor V-1.
I know that the work permit will be issued at the POE according to the letter from the embassy, but what I need to know is the type of visa that the spouse gets on the passport.

Thanks everyone

That's correct, furthermore you would only get a V-1 if you had applied for only a trv for spouse. Also if you applied for kids along (under 5), they receive V-1. Similarly if you applied for open study permit for children, (6+ but under 18) they would receive S-1.

However, none of these are standard visit visas i.e. you have no restriction of max stay of six months in a single go as is the case with a normal visit visa. Moreover, in the countries where medicals are required for work or study permits, normal visit visa do not require medicals. However, all trvs as above do have to undergo medicals, because those are not normal visit trvs and instead issued and valid for the same period as the principal applicant's work permit
