Any experiences from the Landed Immigrants on changing/adding last name of wife before or after Citizenship? Which way is easier?

Just to add bit interest: My wife does not have a last name in her passport which had created lot of troubles for us in the past and we are planning to fix it for the future.

i suggest that your wife use here surname at birth. I used my husband surname in my application and when I received the citizenship certificate then only i found out that i did the mistake of putting my old surname in my first name. Now i need to request CIC to revised my certificate. It is really complicated changing the last name

Can she put her birth last name in the Citizenship Application even when her passport and most of the IDs carry just the first name?

Canadian identification systems require Last Name as mandatory and my understanding is that they move the First Name to Last Name in the system.

In USA, it is worst. They not only move the first name to last name, they also add FNU (First Name Unknown) in the first name. That makes the name funny and tough to understand.

Thanks again!

It is a chain reaction. One mistake and you still pay off. She did not last name in her School records to start with, and from there it carried to Passport, and then to Visas, Immigration, SIN, DL, name it anything!

I am not sure if she actually has a last name any records other then email address :-\

Would there be an issue to assume husband's last name during the Citizenship application process?
