Hi,

My spouse is in Muscat, Oman and the regional office is abu dhabi for processing the sponsorship application. But the timelines for abu dhabi are pretty slow whereas the timeline for India are very quick. Now myself and my spouse being Indian can go throught Delhi, india office. I want to know what is the difference in procedure, do I need to fill in India regional specific form or stick with the Abu Dhabi regional forms but select India as the office where I would like the application to be processed.

Also she has never lived in India more than 6 months, would I still need a police clearance from India?

Is your wife an Indian national? I don't quite understand how that would be possible if she has never lived in India for more than 6 months. You can only choose New Delhi as your visa office if you are either a. an Indian citizen or b. you are currently living in India and have been legally admitted for a period of at least 12 months.

Yes she is an Indian national but was born and raised in Oman. She visits India every year.

Ok so then you can apply through New Delhi and you would be wise to given the shorter processing time. You would follow the country-specific instructions for India. If your wife has never lived in India for 6 consecutive months (or longer) since the age of 18, then no, she doesn't need a police certificate from India.

You will need to give some thought to how to handle the mailing of her passport when it comes to that (both mailing it to the visa office and getting it back). Does she have a passport from India or Oman? I know that you can't mail an Indian passport out of the country but I'm not sure about Oman.

Unlikely that it would be quicker since the OP's spouse is Oman so New Delhi would have to confer with Abu Dhabi as the she has spend most of her life in Oman. The request from ND would not be a priority for Abu Dhabi. But as always, it is your choice.

She has a Indian passport ofcourse as she is an indian national.

I am really undecided, I want to go with abu dhabi as it is the safer option, but then the timeline is scary in abu dhabi...
