Dear all,

I'm a PR and my wife is pregnant (1st month pregnancy) and both of us are in Dubai. What are the chances of applying for a temporary residence visa/ visit visa for her and getting approved and how long might it take ?

Tough to say. Normally it would be very difficult but due to covid it has gotten slightly easier. In many provinces your wife won’t have healthcare and you’ll need to pay for her pregnancy and labour out of pocket.

Processing is a around year for a TRV from Dubai. Even if received before the birth, you would be paying out of pocket for labour and delivery.

Thanks for the reply, i know i will have to pay for the labor and delivery but i was told that pregnancy cases are usually processed faster than other applications to facilitate family reunion….. is this true ?

There is no expedited processing and she is a visitor. She is not reuniting with you if you are with her in Dubai.

no pregnancy cases aren’t processed faster. In many cases pregnancy creates more concerns that the spouse isn’t a genuine visitor and on top of that there can be concerns about the spouse not having access to provincial healthcare. Many only plan for the minimum cost and if there are emergencies or extended stays in the hospitals the bills go substantially higher. There are many who aren’t reunited for the delivery. Had this been precovid chances would have been almost zero for your spouse to be approved. Due to covid there is more leniency. Is your spouse working full-time? do you have a long history of in person dating or living together? Has she travelled internationally to countries like the US, UK, etc.? Has she already done her medical? Biometrics? What is her citizenship and her immigration status in Dubai? How much savings do you have and do you have longterm job that pays well? These are some of the factors that will influence TRV approval. Difficult to say whether she will get TRV so would have a plan B.
