Hi,

I have a question regarding my immigration of spouse. I am from Pakistan and currently I am working on H1 Visa in USA. And I applied for Canadian Immigration, now I have got my visa stamped as well. But I haven't landed yet. Now, I am planning to get married.

The thing is my spouse is in Pakistan, so do I need to land in Canada first and get the PR card and then go to Pakistan and get married and then sponsor him after coming here?
Or
Is there any other way as well like I get married first then I land in Canada?

Please help me out.

Thank you!

Hi there,

There are two things two note

1) Your landing in Canada is required within certain time period - as mentioned in your visa.
2) In order for you to sponsor your spouse you have to be a PR or Citizen of Canada.

So either you can get married first or later after you get your PR - as long as you cover the two points above, you should be Good.

Hope this helps - All the best.

Whatever you do, do NOT get married first, then land without declaring it to CIC. If you land on your single visa while you are married, you are committing misrepresentation, and you are then barred from sponsoring your husband forever.

I would say, go with the first option i.e. land in Canada first, get the PR card, get married and then sponsor your hubby.
