Spouse From Moldova; Should I Pay For A Lawyer?

Hi everyone,

Here's my situation. I'm Canadian, wife is from Moldova. We were married this past October in Moldova. We tried for a second time for a travel visa so she could visit over the Christmas holidays but we were turned down because she does not have a job in Moldova (she recently just completed university).

I think our next move is to go ahead with a permanent resident application. This both our first marriage, neither of us have any children. Is it worthwhile to hire a lawyer in our case?

I understand the embassy in Bucharest (which processes applications for Moldavian citizens) is usually fairly fast also. 6-8 months is is that correct even for people from Moldova?

Hi

There is absolutely no need for a lawyer. There are guides and checklists for the application and any questions can be answered on here. Save your money and do it yourselves.

As for the processing time, no one can really guarantee how long it will take, as there are not enough Moldovan applicants on the forum to really say with any accuracy.
