Spousal visitor visa

Hi, I am a Canadian pr. I have been with him for almost a year now after getting married and due to covid stuff, we couldn't apply for a visa together. So, now I am travelling to Canada in next few days. My question is, I know I can apply for outland family class but is it possible for me to apply for a visitor visa for the husband. What things can help improve his chances of acquiring a visitor visa. Is covid situation working in favor because I know that normally it is difficult for a spouse to get a visitor visa. Although he does have a good travel history including Canada.

Yes, he can apply for a TRV.

What will increase his chances of getting a TRV approved is being able to show strong ties (e.g. employment, property ownership) to his home country or the country where he is living now. Having a good travel history will certainly help.

Hi @scylla, thanks for your response. He is currently working for a Maldivian company remotely from India. How can we make this show up as a strong tie? My main motivation for asking is to know the best duration of stay should be. We were planning for 3 months. Is that good or what else would be the best to increase the chances? a month? Also, we are going for a dual intent visitor visa application, so how should I go about this?

Also, he is the only son and property is in the name of his father's. Can he show them and also attach affidavit of support? What are your suggestions? Any help would be appreciated.

Property documents are only helpful if they are in his name. He should show evidence of employment including salary slips and an employment letter. The fact he is a remote worker may weaken his application however there's nothing you can do about that. He should show he has assets / savings to pay for the trip. If he has previous travel to countries requiring visas such as the US and UK, he should show that as well.

Generally speaking I would recommend saying that you want a visit of 1-2 months. However if you are mentioning dual intent, that would indicate he plans to stay longer / permanently. I really can't help you at all with dual intent. I personally feel this generally doesn't at all help in getting a TRV application approved.
