Hi there to all people,

i am newbie here, i have done my bachelors of physiotherapy and i have 2 years of working experience and my fiance has done masters in the same profession, and has work experience of 17 months, just wanted to ask this that my fiance has applied for a course in Memorial university in NEW FOUND LAND, LABRADOR CANADA, and she will be leaving in September 2015, on student visa.

We had plans to get married in somewhere around in august 2015, after her GIC account has shown funds and visa is confirmed and all. i was planning to apply for a OPEN WORK PERMIT and attach my marriage certificate as it can help me easily get an open work permit..... as i wanted to go along with her...

what i really wanted to know is that is there a time period that i needs to be shown that i have been married for a specific time period ?? before i apply for spousal visa, or i can apply for the above mentioned thing at anytime.

also if anyone could help me with some other option will be really helpful

No you do not need to be married for any specific period of time before you apply but you must provide proof that the marriage isn't just so you can travel to Canada. Photographs for your wedding and from different times over the course of your relationship and anything else that proves the relationship is genuine will be necessary.

Will you have family there? Will there be a reception? Have you taken trips together ? Do you have pics of the two of you together at different events etc? All that will help. She could also apply for a TRV but her stay in Canada would be limited and she wouldn't be allowed to work if successful. TRV is more risky because you have to show that she will leave Canada at the end of her approved stay so she would need to have strong ties to her country that outweigh her ties to you. A job to go back to, property or close family would be helpful.

Just realised that you would be the one to join her. The same things apply just for you instead of your future wife.

Make sure you document everything! I applied after 7 months of marriage :) They will need pictures and paper evidence of everything. I have heard of people being rejected for all sorts of reasons (including quite silly ones). Try to build up a strong case for you guys and it should be no problem.
