Hey, quick question I hope some knowledgable person here can help with. To make it brief, I am a Canadian citizen, have been living in Edinburgh, UK with my wife (from Edinburgh) for about 6 years now. We are planning to move back to Canada and have filled in all applications. We are slightly confused as to what payment fees apply to us - obviously the $75 application fee and $475 Principle Applicant fee will apply, but unsure of the $550 "Spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner of the principal applicant, or where a transitional provision applies, a family member of the principal applicant who is 22 years of age or older" fee. Is this applicable to me, given that I am a Canadian citizen (by birth)?

Thanks very much for your help

Shaun

Nope, you don't pay the spouse fee.

You'll also have to pay the right of permanent residence fee. Either up front or when they ask for it.

PR fees:

Sponsorship application $75
Principal applicant fee $475
Right of Permanent Residence Fee $490

Total $1040

You can choose to pay only the first 2 upfront and wait for CIC to request the RPRF. However, not paying the RPRF upfront will delay your app when CIC needs to request it and wait for the payment, so it's advised to pay the full amount upfront.
