if a canadian citizen or legal resident wants to sponsor his or her spouse can they do so but what if the sponsored spouse has a criminal record because they were deported from the united states? lets say that the sponsored spouse got deported from the united states because of a criminal conviction, will this affect their spousal sponsorship application? will this bring problems to the spousal sponsorship application if the sponsored spouse has a criminal record? if the sponsored spouse has to fill out a criminal rehabilitation application assuming that it even gets approved then what????????? can you tell me. thank you.

Yes - a criminal conviction will impact a spousal sponsorship. To what extend depends on what the criminal conviction was and when the penalty for that conviction was completed / the fine was paid. At a minimum - it's likely you would have to go through the rehabilitation process. However if the conviction is recent, the application may still be inadmissible to Canada.

I remember your case now. You're inadmissible. So no point applying for PR right now in any way (including spousal sponsorship).

You were charged with an aggravated felony and deported from the US in 2012. Due to the serious nature of the charges, it's quite possible it's going to be 10 years before Canada will allow you to enter the country. At a minimum, you will have to wait until 2017 before you can try applying for rehabilitation.

But again, as of today, there is nothing you can apply for and no way for you to enter Canada.

You keep posting similar questions over and over. The answer isn't going to change. You need to completely forget about Canada for a few years.
