Hi
I sponsored my Spouse in November, and during that time I was able to see the dates that the CIC office was working on from their website. However for some reason the website does not show which dates they are working on. Is there any way to find out what dates they are processing or working on? I Tired calling but the number does not go through.

Also my husband lives in the States (on work visa), and has visited Canada a number of times (visitor) , does that make any difference to immigration process time? And because he is in the States is there any average waiting period? :(

I look forward to the reply,
Thank you .

If you refer to the sponsor part approval times, it is no longer available in the previous format as CIC have changed the way they report processing times on their website. There is a whole thread on this thing:http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/cic-has-changed-the-way-you-view-processing-times-t391285.0.html

The current time for sponsorship approval is 62 days. You can check here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/index.asp

Thank you for the information and for replying so quick! :) @sashali78

Hi,

I am also being sponsored by my wife who is a Canadian PR. I live in US (on work Visa) and holds Citizenship of another country.
Should we apply from the VO of my country of Citizenship or via US?

Any suggestions..

After going through some recent applicants from US Out-land it tells me a different story about the timeline. People are able to get their file submitted and getting PR within 4-5 months if submitted via US. Is that something anyone is aware of?

You will submit your application to CPC-Mississauga, and then CIC will decide if they send your app to VO based on your residency (US to CPC-Ottawa), or your citizenship. You can certainly write a cover letter explaining your preference, but in the end the choice is entirely up to CIC on what they feel is more appropriate for your case.

The entire application (for both the potential sponsor and applicant for PR) is sent to Mississauga and CIC will determine where the applicant for permanent residence is processed. Unless you have been living in the U.S. for a very long time, it's probably going to go to the country of citizenship.

Yes, some U.S. citizens who applied recently are getting PR within 4-5 months, but count on something more like 6-10 months. With the holidays, it seems like the Ottawa V.O. has slowed considerably...
