I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice. Im a Canadian and married to a British Citizen in the UK, i am filling out the forms to sponsor him so we can move to Canada to be near my parents. The thing is i am unsure whether i need to add my children with my husband on the form as they have Canadian Citizenship and Canadian Passports and also do i need to complete the financial declaration?

Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Since your children are Canadian, they will only need to be mentioned on IMM 5406 Additional Family Information form. This is the one form where all family members are included and the only form where "family" means all extended family (parents, siblings, Canadian or already PR spouse/children etc..)

For spousal sponsorship there is no financial minimum, so filling out a whole financial declaration you don't do. The only thing you do do is show proof that you will be able to financially provide for your husband. You can do this by showing savings, job prospects in Canada, education that may help you to get a well paying job, letter from family and friends who are letting you live with them until you find your own residence,etc.. This is not something to be overly concerned about. You will have to list your income for the past 12 months on the sponsorship agreement and undertaking form, but that's it. If you feel that an explanation is required, you can include it there with that form in an additional piece of paper.

As soon as your husband lands and goes through secondary immigration, they will ask him a question or 2, sign his confirmation of permanent residency paper and he will then officially be considered a PR. He can then immediately apply for a SIN and once he has that number he will be legal to work!

Sometimes in the airport, they have a kiosk that new PRs can get their SIN before even leaving he airport. If it isn't opened when u land, then just go to any Service Canada with his COPR and ID (passport would suffice) and he will get one on the spot there.

If you all decide to move back to Canada before your husband receives his PR, he will be in Canada as a visitor. When on visitor status he can't work, but as soon as he receives his COPR and goes through landing procedures, he can get a SIN and work.

Good luck!

Not quite. The children will also need to be listed on IMM5481 under question 6b.

Someone mentioned my kids need to be added to Imm5481 but they aren't being sponsored as they have Canadian citizenship?

Did you actually look at IMM5481? I referenced the specific question where the children need to be listed and it has nothing to do with who is being sponsored.

Question 6b: Every other family member not included above and dependent on you (or the co-signer if you have one) financially, whether they are living with you or not.

I'm assuming your children don't financially support themselves.

Does anyone know if doing family sponsorship and husband is British does he still need to do the English test? Just before I send forms wondering if it helps that he does it? Thanks
