Spousal sponsorship or Family sponsorship?

I am a Canadian living in Asia and will return to Canada this year but my husband is not a Canadian. Our plan is I move back to Canada with our kids first and then sponsor him next year. Meanwhile, he will stay in Asia first. Should this be a spousal sponsorship or family sponsorship?

Spousal sponsorship is a form of family sponsorship.

A Family Class sponsorship is one where the processing is done outside of Canada. A Spouse or Common Law Parter in Canada Class sponsorship is one where the applicant is in Canada and the application is also processed within Canada Otherwise the nuts and bolts are generally the same.

Thank you. Do you know if I should use the document checklist imm 5287 or imm 5533? I am somewhat confused if financial evaluation is required for spouse application?

It's not except under certain conditions - when you are sponsoring a dependent who also has dependents. If it's a spouse or average nuclear family then no.
