Spousal sponsorship in Canada

Hello guys,
I have question regarding my spousal application in Canada class, application sent on 12th March with open work permit application , and currently I am on work permit which is expired soon 9th April 2019, so do I need to get extension as visitor , to maintain my status while I am wating for my open work permit?

Technically speaking, once you receive AOR on your application you have implied status. However, if for any reason your OWP got denied it would leave you out if status which could cause unnecessary problems. It’s best to apply soon to extend your stay as a visitor. Better to be safe than sorry!
