Spousal Sponsorship - Highest level of education

Hello, my wife completed a Master's degree without a baholors degree.

The spousal sponsorship application (Generic Application Form for Canada (IMM 0008)) asks for the highest level of education acquired. My wife completed 'Single cycle Master's degree' in pharmacy from Italy, it's a bachelor's degree and Master's degree combined into one. So technically she did not receive a bachelor's degree, just a Master's degree.

However in the application instructions page it state: "Master’s degree: Academic degree awarded by a graduate school of a college or university. You must have completed a Bachelor’s degree before you can earn a Master’s degree."

Then later on in the 'Schedule A - Background / Declaration (IMM 5669)' it asks for the breakdown of education history. Which would show no bachelor's degree.

What do we do on this situation?

Personally I'd just put a master's degree. Keep in mind that it's basically irrelevant to the consideration of her application (she's not being evaluated on basis of education like the economic-type streams).

That said, if in doubt, you can include a short letter of explanation (eg 'we have indicated highest level of education as Master's as that is the best equivalent, but the degree she has is a [six] year combined degree culminating in a Master's.')

Sub in the right number of years. You dont need to explain a lot, it's not a material part of her app; keep it brief and factual.
