Hi,

I wanted to know if this situation could be a potential red flag or raise quetions.

Im a Canadian citizen. Lets say I get married to someone in India but my brother and father are not in attendance. My mother and many ither relatives will be present though. But could the absense of my brother and father from pictures raise any questions? Or is it best to ensure thry attend.

Thanks!

Your parents are the most important relatives to have present. If your brother is there or not, won't make much difference. I would try to get your father at least to come. If he won't or can't, well, you will have other relatives there, including your mother, so just write an explanation about why your father couldn't come.

It would also have to depend on the reasons why theyre not present. They would have to be pretty good ones

It's best if your immediate family can come - it lets CIC know that you have family support and that your relationship is known to/supported by your friends + family. Of course, that's not always possible for everyone, especially when cross-continental marriages take place! Flights and hotels are very expensive, after all, and people can't always get the time off work.

If your father and brother can't make it, you can write a couple of paragraphs explaining the situation and attach it to your wedding proof/information section, just to be sure. It might raise some questions but I highly doubt one missing family member will be grounds to refuse your application.
